They are familiar with the compensation and resettlement framework under the Malawian law and donor funded projects. We are backed up by a pool of latest data, tools and technology considered useful in this field ranging from legislation, database templates, socio economic data, survey instruments and others.
EDSC is actively involved in implementation of Environmental Management Plans and Resettlement Action Plans on behalf of its clients. This idea was conceived after noting that many of the Malawian clients do comply with the requirements of preparing necessary safeguards instruments in accordance with the national and international law but are unable to effectively implement the expected mitigation management actions during project execution. This is due to a number of factors including lack of skilled personnel, absence of a good environmental policy framework in many organizations and weak law enforcement. As a result, most of this useful documentation is shelved until the projects are concluded. EDSC is trying to bridge this gap by providing compliance management services to its clients and implement plans on their behalf in accordance with local and international law and effectively enhance results of our clients.
